This Sunday at 2 AM, I got a call from one client, who complained that cgi scripts on his website stopped working all of a sudden. This being peak season for his business, he was a worried lot and wanted me to give it an immediate attention. I rushed to my workstation. Client was on phone telling me the urls and script names which stopped working. I saw it was throwing “500 Internal Server Error”. cPanel announced EOL (End of Life) for version 10.8.x and below. As per a communication released on 8th November, 2007, cPanel will no longer issue licenses for version 10.8.x or below after December 1, 2007. Few months back cPanel had release version 11 of it’s popular Hosting control panel and has now urged all it’s users to upgrade to latest version.
To upgrade to a newer version of cPanel and WHM, administrators can run /scripts/upcp from the command line or use the ‘Upgrade to Latest Version’ option in the ‘cPanel’ menu inside of WebHost Manager.
